First responders were dispatched to a working house fire on Boat Lane in Levittown at approximately 9:60 p.m. on Monday, July 5, when the blaze broke out as a homeowner was cleaning up from a fireworks display.
According to police, the homeowner said that after cleaning up he placed remnants of fireworks including casings in a garbage can on the side of the home, leading to the fire.
Police said that the fire caused damage to the Boat Lane home and a neighbor’s fence.
Fire crews worked quickly to knock down the fire, and there were no injuries were reported.
The Nassau County Fire Marshall, Arson Bomb Squad, and the Levittown Fire Chief were on scene to investigate. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time, officials noted.
